The United States Botanic Garden (USBG) is temporarily closed to the public to reduce the risk of transmitting COVID-19 coronavirus.

Persian shield is a tropical broadleaf evergreen in its native Burma, and is used as an annual in the Mid-Atlantic region. Excellent as both a bedding plant or in containers, it thrives in full sun to part shade with consistently moist soil.
