Opening/Closure Status

The grounds of the USBG will be closed September 18, 2021. On other days, all outdoor gardens are currently open. The Conservatory and public restrooms remain closed, due to the closure of the U.S. Capitol campus buildings. Please monitor www.USBG.gov for updates on operating status. Elizabeth Barton (she/her) has a passion for horticultural education and making science more approachable to everyone through informal education and social media. She joined the U.S. Botanic Garden team as the Volunteer Coordinator in June 2017. Elizabeth has a master's in Public Horticulture Administration from the Longwood Graduate Program, where she researched public garden social media use and millennial engagement strategies. She also has a master's in Plant Science from the University of Maryland, where she researched green roof systems and plant establishment. Elizabeth has a B.S. from the University of Delaware in Landscape Horticulture and Design.
